Santorinios
About This Spot
Stepping into Santorinios feels like slipping into a quiet corner of Greece where time slows just enough to savor every moment. Nestled in the heart of Athina’s Petralona neighborhood, this unpretentious taverna invites you into a warm, relaxed atmosphere where friendly chatter and the gentle clink of glasses fill the air. It’s the kind of place where locals and visitors exchange smiles over well-loved recipes and the hum of genuine hospitality.
The pace here is intentionally unhurried, offering a comforting contrast to the city’s bustle. Rustic charm surrounds you — authentic decor that whispers of island life, simple wooden tables, and sun-soaked colors conjure memories of Santorini’s sunsets and sea breezes. The staff, often familiar faces, create a feeling of shared stories unfolding over the evening, making the space feel more like a neighbor’s home than a restaurant.
Dining at Santorinios is a graceful immersion in honest Greek flavors that celebrate the land and sea alike. Instead of an overwhelming menu, there’s a concise, thoughtfully curated selection that encourages savoring individual dishes — from tender cuts grilled over charcoal to vibrant salads dressed with house-made touches. Each plate carries the love of family traditions, and the pairings with local rosé and homemade wine bring an added layer of warmth to the experience.
This is a spot where food is more than what’s on the plate; it’s the thread that weaves conversations and the casual comfort of good company. Whether you’re settling in with a close friend or discovering Greek hospitality for the first time, Santorinios offers a quietly joyful glimpse of Athenian neighborhood life, inviting you to linger long after the last bite.

This place is a hidden gem of Athens! One of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The food was amazing and all the staff are the best! The decor of the restaurant too is authentic Greece. Loved the love experience.

Wow! What an incredible experience. Of all of the places in Europe I’ve had dinner, this one takes the cake. 10/10. The owner was so gracious and kind, the food was INCREDIBLE, and we left happy and full. I can’t wait to share this restaurant with anyone visiting Athens, it was truly an incredible gem to find. Don’t hesitate!!

Delicious Greek food experience with a cozy, in-the-neighbourhood kind of atmosphere. The service was really casual and friendly, and the food, recommended by staff, was simply amazing! Affordable and more than worth the price!

Lovely little taverna in Petralona streets. Great food from Santorini, the menu is quite restrictive, only one page for food. But the atmosphere is amazing and u can try typical Greek dishes, been there for dinner with a friend and spent a nice evening. Staff is really nice, food is good, place is awesome, cheap price. Totally recommended!

A perfect first meal for us in Athens! Our first impression at the entrance was that this would be a fancy restaurant but it's actually so cozy! The owners were very kind and it has an amazing Greek atmosphere. Reasonable prices as well! We'll definitely come back.

Santorinios was so good that my boyfriend and I absolutely HAD to go again before flying back to Canada. We happened upon it during our first week in Greece and couldn't have been happier with it being our last dinner before leaving. After ferrying around to 6 different Greek islands and having some of the most delicious food of our lives, I must say Santorinios easily finishes on the podium. It has all the elements of a great meal while still being affordable, and is accessible (2 minute walk from Petralona, green Kifissia-Paraeus metro line) yet nestled between a few neatly kept buildings. You feel like you're eating in someone's beautiful, homey courtyard while being served by a friend. That friend's name would be John - a delightful man who doesn't let your table run out of wine during your meal, and who genuinely wants you to enjoy a long meal. From what I've seen, they'll treat your kids like family. And cash is the best form of payment!
